Summertime is Party Time

We are lucky to have friends and family who live in Colorado that we can get together with now and then.  Some live a little north of us, some live a little south of us and some live a little west of us..... Here are a couple of parties we enjoyed this month.

Barb invited a few of us to help her celebrate her birthday (foreground in tourquoise).  The cake in the foreground was created by Karen (death by chocolate- yum).  Karen & Sparky also brought homemade ice cream to go with the cake (my hips say thank you).

Dory volunteered to cook the delicious chicken.

I brought a pasta salad and others contributed other dishes.

Some of the food definitely reflected Barb's southern roots - yum.

Some of the party gravitated to the outdoor area as the weather was wonderfully pleasant here in Loveland, CO (about 45min north of Denver).

So Happy 47yr (again)  Barb - and thanks for inviting us.

Another fun afternoon party was hosted by our friends Mary & Libby who have a beautiful home in Evergreen, CO (about 30mi west of Denver).

Cider was the official greeter whenever someone arrived.

Mary & Libby's home sits atop a wonderful mountain in Evergreen with an amazing view of the Rockies.

We were happy to see many of our Arizona friends at the party.

And it was also great to meet lots of new folks who live here in the area.

New and familiar friends goof around - yes I poked Anne for that response.

Nancy & Celeste hadn't seen each other for almost a year - catching up...

Libby built a beautiful fire in the pit which was welcome as it was a bit chilly.

Lots of great conversation around the fire getting to know everyone.

As you can see Cheryl (without her crutches) is holding court very well.

Storm clouds rolled in and since we were at 8000ft we were already cooler than mile high Denver - so some folks ran for jackets.

When dinner started so did the thunder storms and those of us who love weather sat outside to eat.

The wind and rain eventually doused our beautiful fire.

And the rest of the party went inside to eat where it was warmer.

They enjoyed the weather from this beautiful window inside.
