Blanche & Lucy Visit Old Friends in Newburyport

Yep! that's Cheryl - First thing we did when we dropped by Newburyport was to drive by the Field of Sunflowers at Colby's Farm in Newbury.

At the end of every summer the big event is always the beauty of the sunflowers that everyone passes on the busy road into Newburyport.
Everyone becomes a photographer when these sunflowers make their appearance each August.

We can photograph from afar or get as close as we want to take photos of the sunflowers.
Though they seem 'all the same' each one is beautiful and different.

We visited with our friends Steven & Chris (their beautiful yard behind them.)

Chris & Steve own a beautiful Antique New England home.
When we visited, Cheryl and Chris installed a new AC unit.
They got it cooling off everyone in no time....hurray for 'girl power'.

Blanche & Lucy were happy to see their best friends Mini (left) and Weezie (right) - both Carin Terriers.  They ran and played together non-stop.
Mini is only about 3yr old but a 'spitfire'.
Weezie is Blanche's very first doggy friend their birthdays are only one week apart.

We all went out to eat at Bob Lobster in Newburyport and shared a huge Fisherman's Platter - a mountain of fried scallops, fired shrimp, fried clams, and fried haddock fish on a bed of french fries..... look out hips here it comes.
We drove out to Plum Island and climbed up to the top of one of the bird sighting towers to watch the sunset over the ocean & Plum Island and Newburyport. It was overcast so the sunset was not as vibrant as we have seen in the past.

The next morning was a little overcast with sprinkles - but we walked along the waterfront anyway to look at the boats and seashore. This is the yacht club near where used to live.
The waterfront is always a peaceful place to walk the dogs and watch the waterfowl and sailboats floating in the still water.

The Seawall was always a favorite place for Blanche & Lucy (and us) to stop and rest while we watched the boats and seagulls.

We also visited with our friends Brenda & Laurel while we were in town.

We went to dinner with the girls at a new restaurant in downtown Newburyport called Ceia (pronounced 'say-ya').
Most of the items on the menu had to be explained to me as it was all Portuguese cooking and ingredients.

We started with Yummy Portuguese bread and warm seasoned butter.

Brenda & I had a wonderful Scallop dinner - it may not look good in the picture - but it was delish!! And cooked to perfection - sweet and tender.
After dinner we watched the sunset over Newburyport on Brenda & Laurel's rooftop deck.
We could see seven church steeples from their deck.

And we never tire of watching the beautiful Newburyport sunsets.
