Blanche & Lucy visit the Field of Honor in Newburyport

In early Sept we visited the 3rd Annual Field of Honor celebration which was hosted by the Exchange Club of Newburyport
Almost 300 American Flags waved in the breeze as a tribute dedicated to veterans, victims and emergency first responders of the 9/11 tragedy.

People were able to buy or sponsor a flag in honor and memory of someone they loved.
Our friend Paul decided to buy a flag in honor of his friend who died on September 11th.  Each Flag stood 8ft tall with the honoree's name on a tag.
Paul's friend Jay Corcoran was on Flight #175 the second flight that hit the Towers on 9/11

Here, Paul and Cheryl's sister Cindy stand with their Flag.
Though the hundreds of Flags in perfect rows brought tears to our eyes - we were happy to be with Paul & Cindy to participate personally in the tribute.
Part of the ceremony was a moving musical tribute by these Bagpipers.

The Military was present for the ceremony.
The Honor Guard presented the Colors - a ceremony that is beautiful.

The overcast day lent to the somberness of the ceremony.

This little Fireman came with his grandparents to honor the Firemen who died on September 11th.

This wonderful display of heroism stood for several days for people to enjoy.
Cheryl & I stopped by often to walk among the flags and feel the energy here.

Each day we took Blanche & Lucy for a walk among the flags, they looked different - depending on the weather, wind, time of day.
But every time we visited we felt the same rush of feelings.
Thanks Paul for buying a flag and letting us be part of the tribute.
