Blanche & Lucy vist Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico

Our second day in Rocky Point was full and fun. Thanks to my friend Jeanne for some of these photos that we can share of this great day.

The early sunrise walk with Blanche & Lucy was quiet and beautiful.
We walked around the campground and enjoyed seeing the 'full-time' campers' spots and their decorative lots.   This person collected lots of sand dollars.

And I would have to say that this is probably owned by a very 'colorful' couple.

We popped into the hotel next door for Happy Hour.

There was a beautiful view from the deck so we took an outside table.

This was our table & seats - we listened to a great entertainer and had tasty margheritas.

Lots of locals dropped by to sell their wares.
And we watched while a local horse owner rode up and down with his ponies.

He rents the horses for riders who would like to ride along the beach.
The owner took off the sadles and the horses took turns rolling in the sand.
They reminded me of the dogs when they roll on the grass to scratch themselves.

Later we went to the Malecon in the Old Port  - this local agreed to 'shoot' us.

So our full group gave a big smile for the photo.
We spent a little time strolling the shops and buying trinkets.

We couldn't resist a couple of little hand painted turtles.
Karen & I found fun sunglasses & new anklets to buy.

We all gathered back at the 'BooBar' for lunch to celebrate Karen's birthday.
Some of the souveniers we could buy

The BooBar was right on the water so we had a great view - Here we are all pointing our fingers at Karen to say it was her birthday...
From our table at the BooBar we watched the Pellicans play.
This was another restaurant-bar next to ours.

The waiter decided that the Birthday Girl needed a Tequila Shot for her day.

Later that evening we continued to celebrate Karen's birthday by going to the Lighthouse Restaurant for dinner.
There were 13 of us for dinner so they gave us a long table on the outdoor terrace for our group alone.  Here is Kim & Ann and Gary & Billy who joined us.

Kim, RJ & Joe talk about the great view from our private dinning terrace.

Joe & Gary told us about a cruise that they had taken out on this bay once.

We watched as this evening's sunset cruise headed out.

From our terrace we were able to look out over the Old Port and see across to Playa Bonita.

We could even see the campers at our campground from the restaurant terrace.
This is our crew just before dinner was served.
The Lighthouse Restaurant specializes in Mexican American cuisine - I had Grand Marnier Sole which was delish!
We were serenaded all evening by a wonderful singer musician.
We took one last photo before the setting sun made it too dark.

We stayed to watch the setting sun and the last sailboats go by.

A beautiful end to a great day on the Sea of Cortez.

When we sat around the campfire that night- Jakota brought out one last candle so we could all sing a final Happy Birthday to Karen.... a great birthday for her.
