The Wild Horses of Arizona

A few of us photographers decided to see if we could find the Wild Horses who live on their own near the Salt River here in the Phoenix area of Arizona. Pictured here are Linda, myself, and Babs - Mitzi and Thursa were also with us.
Babs, who was our 'guide' today, is an avid 'Birder' - she knew the area well and had seen many different bands of wild horses while she was birding in this area near the Salt River.
We first saw this band of horses feeding near the parking lot at Coons Bluff as we drove in.

It didn't take them long to 'smell' us and see our little group of photographers.

At first the horses just kept munching and mingling among each other all the while watching our moves.

This big brown horse kept a close eye on us as we photographed his group.
A mare and her foal stayed close together and we kept a respectful distance away.

Mom and baby were adorable together.

This group of 3 pale horses kept close to each other and kept moving away from us as we crept closer for better shot.

Unfortunately once we started getting too close - the band decided to move out and find another spot without an audience watching them.

We watched as they turned to look back at us before they moved away - what a beautiful sight.

  1. Hi Cousin!
Looks like you had another great adventure! Beautiful photography!! I always enjoy seeing your work. Wish I could have been there. What beautiful horses.
My little Westie, Lily, just turned 6 but a few months ago she had a ripped tendon in her knee. She had some major surgery and is undergoing physical therapy which will go on for 6-7 months. She doesn't like to walk using that leg. She hobbles around. The poor thing. It's going to be a very slow recovery. hope Blanche & Lucy are doing well.
Regards to Cheryl. We haven't met, but, a friend of yours is a friend of mine.
    Big hug
    Carol
